Shipping Policy

Coastal Beastie ships selected marine livestock, corals, invertebrates, hardware, dry goods, food and additives across South Africa.

Shipping availability depends on product type, weather, courier routes, livestock sensitivity, and final destination. Live animal shipments may require confirmation before dispatch.

Shipping Methods

We may offer:

  • Local collection from Centurion by arrangement.
  • Flat-rate courier for eligible dry goods and selected products.
  • Manual shipping quote for livestock, corals, sensitive animals, large hardware, or remote areas.

Live animals are not shipped in the same way as normal dry goods. Coastal Beastie reserves the right to delay, decline, or reschedule any livestock shipment if conditions are unsuitable.

Dispatch Timing

Orders are dispatched only once payment has cleared and shipping has been confirmed. Livestock orders may be held until an appropriate dispatch window is available.

We may delay shipping due to:

  • Extreme heat or cold.
  • Courier delays or service disruptions.
  • Public holidays or long weekends.
  • Product health concerns.
  • Incomplete customer delivery details.
  • Areas not suitable for safe livestock courier delivery.

Customer Responsibility

The customer must provide accurate delivery details, be available to receive the order, and ensure that livestock can be acclimated immediately on arrival.

Coastal Beastie is not responsible for losses caused by incorrect address details, missed deliveries, delayed collection, unsuitable receiving conditions, or improper acclimation.


Live Arrival Guarantee

Coastal Beastie takes reasonable care to pack and dispatch livestock and corals safely.

Live Arrival Guarantee may apply only where Coastal Beastie has expressly confirmed that the product and delivery route are eligible.

Conditions

To qualify for any live-arrival consideration:

  • The shipment must have been approved for live-animal courier delivery.
  • The customer must be available to receive the parcel on first delivery attempt.
  • Any issue must be reported immediately on arrival.
  • Clear photos and/or video must be sent via WhatsApp to 067 225 8911 on the same day of delivery.
  • Packaging must not be discarded before Coastal Beastie has reviewed the claim.
  • The customer must follow reasonable acclimation procedures.

Exclusions

The guarantee does not apply where loss or damage is caused by:

  • Missed delivery.
  • Incorrect delivery details.
  • Delayed collection.
  • Customer unavailability.
  • Courier delays outside Coastal Beastie’s control.
  • Extreme weather.
  • Poor acclimation.
  • Unsuitable aquarium conditions.
  • Aggression from existing livestock.
  • Pest, disease, or parasite introduction after delivery.
  • Stress, colour change, polyp retraction, or normal shipping response.

Coastal Beastie may offer store credit, replacement, partial credit, or no remedy, depending on the circumstances. Cash refunds are not guaranteed for livestock.


Returns / DOA Policy

Coastal Beastie does not offer an unconditional DOA refund policy for livestock, corals, marine fish, or invertebrates.

Live marine animals are sensitive biological goods. Once livestock leaves our care, survival depends on transport conditions, receiving conditions, acclimation, tank stability, compatibility, and other factors outside Coastal Beastie’s control.

Livestock, Corals and Invertebrates

Returns are not accepted for livestock, corals, fish, or invertebrates.

DOA claims are reviewed case by case and may only be considered if all Live Arrival Guarantee conditions are met.

Coastal Beastie reserves the right to decline any claim where evidence is insufficient, procedures were not followed, or the issue appears unrelated to Coastal Beastie’s handling.

Hardware and Dry Goods

Unused, unopened hardware or dry goods may be considered for return within 7 days of receipt, subject to inspection and approval.

Returned items must be in original packaging and in resaleable condition. Shipping fees are non-refundable unless the return is due to an error by Coastal Beastie.

Special-order items, opened consumables, frozen food, livestock, corals, invertebrates and sale items are not returnable unless required by applicable law.

Product Availability

All products are subject to availability. WYSIWYG specimens are one-of-a-kind and may sell quickly. Coastal Beastie may cancel or amend an order if stock is unavailable, incorrectly listed, unhealthy, or unsuitable for sale.

Product Images

WYSIWYG images aim to show the actual specimen. Colour may vary due to lighting, photography, screen settings, coral condition, tank conditions, and natural livestock changes.

Actinic and daylight images are provided where available to assist buyers, but exact colour matching is not guaranteed.

Livestock Disclaimer

Marine livestock, fish, corals and invertebrates are living animals. Coastal Beastie cannot guarantee long-term survival after delivery or collection.

The customer accepts responsibility for aquarium suitability, water quality, acclimation, compatibility, quarantine, pest management, and ongoing care.

Liability Limitation

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Coastal Beastie is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or aquarium-related losses, including livestock loss, coral loss, tank crashes, pest outbreaks, disease, equipment failure, water-quality issues, courier disruption, or loss of income.

Any remedy offered by Coastal Beastie is limited to the purchase price of the affected item, and may be provided as store credit, replacement, partial credit, or another remedy at Coastal Beastie’s discretion.

Orders and Payment

Orders are processed after payment confirmation. Payment is handled through approved payment gateways and secure checkout methods.

Shipping Risk

Shipping live animals carries inherent risk. The customer accepts this risk when requesting livestock delivery.

Changes

Coastal Beastie may update these terms, policies, prices, and availability at any time.

Coastal Beastie collects customer information needed to process orders, communicate with customers, arrange shipping, provide support, and improve the website.
